It creates uneasiness in the heart of this apparent comfort, (swimming pool palm sun). it emerges from it a feeling of emptiness, of superfluous. In its own way it is nightmarish, perhaps because it seems very American. At the same time there is the echo of Hockney's Californian swimming pools where an old body replaces that of the young ephebes

i think it's a great picturekwarkitohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13214647796138522033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2609424440381386554.post-81248169737927669722021-09-27T10:45:25.366-07:002021-09-27T10:45:25.366-07:00

With a painting you just step back and look at it. You can quickly judge it to be successful or not. I can tell at a glance the next day if it is good or if I did not stop in time and overworked it. Re-reading a piece takes more time.

I found four copies of The Paris Review from the '60's. Bought two for the cover art and the others for the interviews. One with Robert Graves was fantastic! And another with Norman Mailer was interesting also. I think both would agree with you that one has to be "fairly mad."

AnitaNHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10019496117372995136noreply@blogger.com
