O.K. Just a quick update while I wait for calls from everyone ranging from the ortho doc's office to schedule my mother's cortisone injection into her spine (from this morning's appointment) to the HVAC company. I'm waiting on no calls for me. Uh-uh. But I'll need to schedule some things for my own home if I ever get a chance.
Let's start with the weirdest thing. Walking barefoot through my mother's living room, I stepped in a damp spot a couple days ago. I assumed my mother had spilled some water. But the spot has gotten bigger. I blotted up the water with a towel still thinking it was my mother carrying a water cup with her walker. But I couldn't sleep, so I got up at two and man, the thing was soaked, so I got a towel and dried it. My mind was wild with worry all night. What could it be? The floor is terrazzo over concrete, so the water has to be seeping up through that. My mother has had her house re-plumbed, so it isn't the water pipes. The water is near the HVAC, and she has been having trouble with the drain lines clogging. When I got up at six, the carpet was soaked again. Nobody had run water during the night, so I can only imagine it is the drain pipes for the a.c. I felt inside the unit, and there is no water, so maybe her drain line under the house has ruptured. I have no idea. I've called to get someone out, and that is one phone call I am awaiting.
Another is the person scheduling my mother's injection. I told the ortho that the IR doc blew me off when I said much of her pain came from the stenosis in her lower vertebrae. He told me no, it wasn't bad enough. The ortho said it was bad, so he is scheduling the injection.
"I guess you knew what you were talking about," he said.
Hell yea.
We have a pain management appointment on Saturday morning. But my mother is out of pain meds, so I called her primary to see if she can get something today. She has prescribed them before. The nurse said no, it takes five days.
"This is a refill," I said. "All the forms have already been filled, all the boxes checked."
I don't know if my mother will have pain meds tonight or not.
This is what I do. Full time. Nonstop.
Just saying.
The wet carpet has put me over the edge. Everything is going wrong though I'm trying so hard.
God hates me.
But I must admit, the hospital group has great views. They seem to own everything and have built giant new buildings everywhere. Oh. . . they are a not for profit group, of course, owned by the 7th Day Adventist.
Here's a pic I took and cooked up on my phone while I was waiting.
Coulda done better in PS, but whatever.
I guess I'll quit pissing and moaning now. I think I'll try to sneak in a little gym time. I used to look like a movie star or something, you know.
